DART makes list of world’s top projects

Dallas Area Rapid Transit's light rail expansion is being recognized as one of the Top 100 Global Infrastructure Projects, compiled by the Washington, D.C., consulting firm CG/LA Infrastructure LLC.

DART’s activities
during the current economic recession were cited for helping pave the way for
prosperity, now and in the decades to come. Following the opening of the first
section of the Green Line in September, DART is on schedule to nearly double
its light rail network to 90 miles by 2013. The rail expansion is the longest
project of its kind under construction in North America.

Projects included on
the 2009 list were chosen for their vision and the competitive boost they add
to the communities they serve. The total estimated value of the projects
identified is nearly $550 billion with a focus this year on job creation,
mobility, people and innovation.

According to Norman F.
Anderson, President and CEO of CG/LA Infrastructure LLC, "The aim of the
Global Forum is to fix a spotlight on the most important infrastructure
projects in the world — and to give the men and women who lead those projects
an opportunity to build long-term assets critical to their country’s future, at
world-class levels of quality and velocity."
