NCTD Announces Upcoming Coastal Rail Service Suspension for Track Maintenance

SAN DIEGO - The North County Transit District (NCTD) announced all coastal rail service will be suspended February 22nd - 23rd.

According to NCTD, this service suspension is to allow for crews to make maintenance and infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor. This suspension includes COASTER service. On Monday, February 24th, COASTER service will resume its regular schedule.

NBCSanDiego reported this closure also impacts Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and BNSF freight service between San Diego and Oceanside. The areas in which crews will be working include Batiquitos Lagoon Double Track – Northern Encinitas to Southern Carlsbad, Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization Phase 5, Southern Solana Beach, Miramar area of San Diego, and Ash Street, Downtown San Diego.
