DENVER – The RTD Board of Directors approved two contracts for KCI and Triunity, Inc. for reconstruction and project management support.

On February 29th, RT&S reported that the Regional Transportation District (RTD) will begin reconstruction of its downtown light rail by focusing on five at-grade rail and street intersections. As part of that work, the RTD has selected Krische Construction, Inc. (KCI) “to carry out a full-depth reconstruction of five rail intersections in downtown Denver this summer.” As well, it has also selected Triunity, Inc. for “project management support and consultant services to assist the agency’s rail reconstruction efforts.” Both contracts were authorized by the RTD Board of Directors this past week.

The project is expected to cost around $152 million dollars, and the first of four phases will start in May 2024 with a focus on five segments of track at street intersections in the Downtown Loop. According to the RTD, phases two through four will occur in 2025.

RTD says KCI and Triunity, Inc. will “function as extensions of RTD by conducting project activities and supplementing specialized expertise throughout the project’s duration.” KCI is based in Longmont and has been a contractor for transportation infrastructure and renovation projects for more than 30 years. Triunity, Inc. is part of the Lochner group of companies and has previously supported RTD projects.
