ELK GROVE, Calif. – The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission has closed escrow on land for a station in Elk Grove.

The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission has secured land for a new station in Elk Grove, California, according to KCRA. Located near Laguna Boulevard and Dwight Road, the new station would connect riders to the Bay Area. Currently, the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) has service Monday through Friday that runs from San Jose to Stockton, but the new station would expand that service to Elk Grove. Service is expected to start in late 2026.

The final design is set to be finished by the end of 2024. The expanded service also “features a dedicated shuttle connection to the Sacramento International Airport from downtown Sacramento.”

Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen said, “A new train station in Elk Grove is not just a transportation hub, but a gateway for connecting with our untapped potential. The station will close the gap between Elk Grove and the Bay Area, remove barriers like a lengthy commute for top talent, and provide further incentive for businesses to start in, or relocate to, Elk Grove.”
