WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is addressing a third rail power issue on the Orange Line.

On March 10, Metro announced via social media that trains were not operating between New Carrollton and Cheverly due to a power problem. Earlier today, March 11, crews were dispatched to troubleshoot the issue in the area and let its customers know of alternate routes.
The issue is a broken third rail that is expected “to take several hours” to fix. There is no word yet on what caused the broken rail, and work is still ongoing.
RT&S will update this story as more information becomes available.
