Laurel MARC Train Station Will Close for Platform Replacements

BALTIMORE – Maryland Department of Transportation and Maryland Transit Administration announce a ten-week closure of the station for its platform replacement project.

The Laurel MARC Train Station will be closed starting Monday, August 21^st for ten weeks. The Maryland Department of Transportation and Maryland Transit Administration announced in a press release that the closure will allow crews to start maintenance work that includes “replacing both platforms, stairs, and ramps at the station.” The project is said to cost around $2.6 million and focuses on passenger safety. 

Holly Arnold, Maryland Transit Administrator, anticipated the inconvenience closing the station for ten weeks will cause and made a statement of appreciation for MARC riders and that the Maryland Transit Administration understood “that this will cause some short-term inconvenience, but working this way will result in a far faster return to service for our riders and ensure the safety of riders and workers during construction.”
