MBTA Releases North Station Draw One Bridge EA
Written by Jennifer McLawhorn, Managing Editor
BOSTON - The MBTA has released a draft of its Environmental Assessment (EA) for the North Station Draw One Bridge Replacement Project.
In September, RT&S reported that the USDOT awarded $472 million to replace the North Station Draw One Bridge as part of the National Infrastructure Project Assistance Program, marking it as the largest federal award for the MBTA.
Now, the MBTA has released its recently completed draft of the EA on its website. The EA comes after analysis of potential impacts from the project. As part of the EA, the MBTA states the modifications to the bridge would “require alteration to the existing DCR easement for the relocation of two existing piers and the construction of one additional pier within MBTA ROW.” Additionally, a boat launch ramp in North Point Park may experience temporary closures, and a floating dock and approach ramp would be remove during the project’s construction. These and other potential impacts are detailed in the Environmental Assessment.
On January 2, 2025, the MBTA will hold a Zoom public hearing. Any emailed comments (to [email protected]) will be accepted until noon on January 6, 2025.
