Officials are trying to determine the cause of a train derailment in Michigan.

A train derailed in Alpena Township, Mich., on July 21.

No injuries were reported, but six cars carrying stone left the tracks between Werth Road and Grant Street. Some of the cars ended up in an adjacent ditch. There were no hazardous material spills.

The train was headed to the Tawas City area. The operator of the locomotive said she felt a tug before the train came to a sudden stop. It could take several days to remove the wreckage and fix the track.

The cause of the derailment is currently unknown. RT&S will update this story if and when more information becomes available.
