Work on a $2.8-million project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system took place from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 between the San Mateo and Redwood City stations.

A project to improve 25
grade crossings in San Mateo County is nearing completion. Work will be done at
the Fair Oaks Lane crossing in Atherton from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., March 24-25.

Caltrain is reconstructing
the pavement and track at three railroad crossings in the cities of Burlingame
and San Mateo over the course of 10 weeks. The project began March 12 and is
expected to take 10 weeks to complete. The work will go from north to south,
beginning at Peninsula Avenue, then going to Villa Terrace and finally Bellevue
Avenue. The intersections will be closed during the construction period.
Electronic message boards will be used to direct traffic around the closed
intersections.

On March 21, crews welded
and replaced crossties on the tracks between the San Bruno and San Mateo
stations. March 22-25, crews will resurface the tracks between the Millbrae and
San Mateo stations.

Also on March 21, crews resurfaced
the tracks between the Sunnyvale and Santa Clara stations. March 22-25 crews
will replace cross ties and resurface the tracks near the San Jose Diridon
station.
