STV-Naik Joint Venture Proceed with CM Services for Amtrak’s ERT Project

NEW YORK CITY - STV and Naik Consulting Group, PC, have announced they have received a notice to "Proceed to provide Construction Management (CM) services for Amtrak’s East River Tunnel (ERT) Rehabilitation project."
According to the release, the joint venture brings together the services of STV, a firm that “plans, designs, and manages infrastructure projects across North America” and Naik Consulting Group, PC, a construction and program management firm. With the project primarily funded by the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA), the ERT consist of four tubes that connect to New York City and are used by Amtrak, Long Island Railroad, and NJ Transit.
The joint venture will work to modernize the East River Tunnel by reconstructing and upgrading the systems along the corridor. These include demolishing the existing tunnel systems down to the liner, rehabilitating the structure, replacing cable benches, installing new fire safety systems, replacing signals and traction power, and converting the tracks to a direct fixation track system. These upgrades will improve reliability and reduce noise levels. The release goes onto state work will take place in Penn Station and Sunnyside Yard (Queens).
