Koppers hosts tour of South Carolina tie plant

Representatives from the offices of Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Tim Scott (R-SC) joined representatives from GoRail and the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) on April 5 to tour Koppers’ rail tie manufacturing facility in Florence, S.C.

CN reaches training milestone

Fifteen thousand Canadian National employees have completed a range of railway training programs at its two education campuses since they opened in 2014. The railroad also unveiled plans to provide customer safety training under its new CN Campus Partnership Program.

Short Line Safety Institute fills two senior positions

The Short Line Safety Institute on March 24, 2016 announced the onboarding of two key staff members—Mike Long, Senior Safety and Operations Manager, and Michele Malski, Safety Programs Manager. These two new positions will be instrumental in driving the Institute’s key initiatives forward.

NS names Adams VP of human resources

Norfolk Southern has named Ann Adams vice president human resources, succeeding Juan Cunningham, who retired earlier this year. Her appointment becomes effective April 1, 2016.

Work continues on NYS&W service restoration in New York

The Rail Revitalization Project begun by the Chenango County Industrial 
Development Agency (CCIDA) in 2011 will mark a major milestone March 23, when 
Frontier Railroad Services, LLC, begins removing brush and other 
obstacles along the 45.5 miles of New York Susquehanna and Western (NYS&W) rail right-of-way in
 Chenango County, N.Y.
