Amtrak NEC Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project Under Way

PERRYVILLE, Md. – Work on Amtrak’s $2.7 billion Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project on the Northeast Corridor in Maryland has begun with pre-construction work that includes removal of remnant bridge piers from the Susquehanna River and utility upgrades in the town of Perryville, Md.. This work sets the stage for start of actual bridge construction later next year.

Construction Begins on Livingston Avenue Rail Bridge Replacement

ALBANY, N.Y. -Construction has begun on a $634.8 million project to replace the Livingston Avenue Rail Bridge, which will replace the Civil War-era passenger rail bridge spanning the Hudson River between the cities of Albany and Rensselaer and provide a “modern crossing that will improve service and reliability along New York State’s Empire Corridor and throughout the entire Northeast.”

Amtrak Awards Connecticut River Bridge Contract

OLD SAYBROOK/OLD LYME, Conn. – Amtrak on June 28th reported awarding the O&G/Tutor Perini joint venture a construction contract to replace the existing Connecticut River Bridge, which opened in 1907 and links Old Saybrook and Old Lyme.

Hudson Tunnel Project Primed for FFGA

NEWARK/NEW YORK- The United States government has notified Congress that it plans to award a $6.88 billion GIG (Capital Improvement Grant) to the Gateway Development Commission (GDC) for the Hudson Tunnel project. The project involves building a new twin-bore tunnel for the Northeast Corridor (NEC) beneath the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey.
