Watco Transportation Services named Josh McCormack regional safety manager for the East Region. He will assist the East Region railroads, the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad (WSOR), as well as East Region switching sites by ensuring the highest standards of training and compliance are met.

He will also develop new training materials and assist with auditing for compliance with FRA regulations. In addition, McCormack will assist the region by providing timely and accurate information through weekly reports, tracking statistics and identifying trends with regards to safety. He will be working out of the WSOR Madison, Wis., office.

He most recently worked as the road foreman of engines for Transit America, administering certification, safety and compliance programs for Caltrain commuter passenger operations in the San Francisco Bay area.

Watco also named Jared Carman regional safety Q&A manager. He will be responsible for conducting root cause analysis of all incidents so that Watco can put corrective actions into place to prevent recurrences.

Jared began his railroad career 18 years ago with Union Pacific as a brakeman/conductor. During his time with UP he was promoted to engineer, yardmaster, road foreman of engines, manager of terminal operations and senior manager of train operations.
