Two Ohio Rail Crossings to Receive Safety Upgrades

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, or PUCO, approved safety upgrades in Lucas and Washington counties in Ohio.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, or PUCO, approved safety upgrades in Lucas and Washington counties in Ohio. In Oregon, Lucas County, PUCO reports Chemtrade Refinery Solutions Limited Partnership (Chemtrade) “will install flashing lights and gates at the CSX-operated grade crossing on Otter Creek Road.” The upgrades will be completed by November 1, 2024. The total amount of federal funds used for the upgrades is $289,872.

Additionally, Belpre Industrial Parkersburg Railroad, BIPR, will install gates and flashing lights in Warren Township at the T.R. 482/Gravel Bank Road grade crossing by November 1, 2024. The total amount of federal funds used for the upgrades is $311,971.

During these upgrades, local governments will seek additional funding up to $5,000 for safety improvements “such as rumble strips, illumination, improved signage or other enhancements.”
