Caltrain construction, maintenance updates March 13-19

Work on a $2.8-million project to add additional signals to the Caltrain signal system will take place from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday, March 15-19 between the San Mateo and Redwood City stations.

Caltrain will be
reconstructing the pavement and track at three railroad crossings in the cities
of Burlingame and San Mateo over the course of 10 weeks, beginning Friday,
March 12, 2010. The work will go from north to south, beginning at Peninsula
Avenue, then going to Villa Terrace and finally Bellevue Avenue. The intersections
will be closed during the construction period. Electronic message boards will
be used to direct traffic around the closed intersections.

For the reconstruction of
Peninsula Avenue, the work will take place over the course of two full
weekends. Work will go from 8 p.m. Friday, March 12 to 6 a.m. Monday, March 15,
and again during the same times from Friday, March 19 to Monday, March 22. During
that time, traffic will be diverted onto Anita Road, Bayswater Avenue and
California Drive.

March 15-18 crews will weld
and replace crossties on the tracks between the Millbrae and Hayward Park
stations. March 14-18 crews will resurface the tracks between the Sunnyvale and
Tamien stations. March-18 crews will replace crossties on the tracks near the
San Jose Diridon station.
