Minnesota Infrastructure Projects Receive $400 Million in Grants
Written by Jennifer McLawhorn, Managing EditorST. PAUL, Minn. – Part of the $400 million in state grants given to Minnesota will be used for grade separation projects.
The state of Minnesota will receive almost $400 million in state grants for several infrastructure projects, according to CBS News.
In an announcement from the governor last week, the Minnesota Department of Transportation “will be allocating the funds through the state’s Corridors of Commerce program.”
The funding will be used for eight projects listed below:
- $96 million for grade separations from Quentin to Nicollet Aves
- $78 million for a lane expansion from Albertville to Monticello
- $8 million to expand a lane from CSAH 78 to CSAH 9
- $18 million to improve roadways from Eveleth to Virginia
- $181 million for four grade separation projects broken down further: $60 million for grade separation construction in Byron, $58 million for grade separation construction in Baxter, $33 million for grade separation construction in New London, $30 million for grade separations from 103rd to 117th Aves in Blaine
There will also be $6 billion for transportation from the omnibus transportation bill “and will allow MnDOT and its partners at the Metropolitan Council and local and tribal governments to make investments in our state’s multimodal transportation system,” according to the Governor Tim Waltz.
