PHILADELPHIA – SEPTA announced its final phase of SCIP to start this month with an expected completion date of August 26th, and train service will be impacted.

SEPTA has announced its plans to finish reconstruction in its “final phase of the Southwest Connection Improvement Program (SCIP).” Starting July 22nd, service adjustments due to work will begin and is “expected to be completed by Saturday, August 26.” During this time, Penn Medicine Station will be closed. From July 24-28, “there will be no train service on the Media/Wawa Line.”

Media/Wawa Line infrastructure between 30th Street and the Arsenal Interlocking will be rebuilt through The Southwest Connection Improvement Program. SEPTA details the upcoming work highlights to include “interlocking signal systems maintenance, bridge inspections, rail replacements, and tunnel repairs.”

Instead of train service to and from Penn Medicine Station, shuttle buses will be provided. On the Media/Wawa Line, an adjusted schedule will take place with shuttle buses between 49th Street, 33rd & Spruce, and William H. Gray 30th Stations during the week. On the weekend, “buses will provide service between Swarthmore Station, 33rd & Spruce, and William H. Gray 30th St Station.”

There will also be no train service to and from Temple University, Jefferson, and Suburban Stations on the Wilmington/Newark Line. This also includes the Airport Line. For more information, SEPTA encourages riders to see “real-time service updates” on their website at septa.org or on their twitter feed @SEPTA.
