MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – Crews work on the Mary Fix Creek bed and the new Eaglewood Bridge on Metrolinx’s Hazel McCallion Line.

Several weeks ago, RT&S reported on the Hazel McCallion construction work update, specifically the installation of a push box.

Mary Fix Creek

Recently, Metrolinx has given an update on the revitalization of Mary Fix Creek near the Port Credit GO Station along the Hazel McCallion Line. In addition, “30 parking spots were reinstated and the new Eaglewood Bridge is about to debut.”

Crews reconstructed 400 meters of the Mary Fix Creek bed with the remaining 325 meters to be finished later this year. The creek bed is a “critical stretch for flood protection, where the creek flows through a concrete-lined channel.” The design will allow the bed to be “wider and deeper which will provide additional flood control with up-to-date hydraulic modelling, improved safety, and resilience, all while protecting the community from significant storm damage.”

Eaglewood Bridge

Over the creek, Eaglewood Bridge has now completed construction, and it “will enhance traffic flow and offer better coordination with the LRT guideway on Hurontario Street.”
