After not offering passenger service for about a year due to the pandemic, the New Mexico Rail Runner Express resumed limited service on Monday, March 8. The State of New Mexico has set guidelines for the reopening of commuter rail on a limited basis.

The train will be running on a limited schedule which at this time will not include any weekend service. The Rail Runner operates from Santa Fe, N.M., through Albuquerque and terminating in Belen. (see map below)

The train will not be stopping at the following stations:

  • Bernalillo County
  • Montaño
  • Downtown Bernalillo
  • Kewa
  • Zia Road

The proper use of face masks is required, per federal law. Face masks must always be worn on public transit and at transit facilities and stops/stations.

RT&S has reached out to the commuter agency to learn how ridership has been this week, along with passenger and community reaction. As soon as we hear back from them, we will update this story with comments.
