Metrolinx Selects Aecon Alliance for Hamilton LRT Civil and Utilities Works Project

TORONTO - Aecon Group Inc. announced Hamilton LRT Civil & Utilities Alliance has been selected for the Hamilton LRT Civil and Utilities Works project in Ontario.

According to the press release, Metrolinx owns the project, and Aecon will serve a the construction partner responsible for project deliver. A joint venture between Hatch, Egis, and Systra will serve as the design partner. The Alliance has entered into an alliance development phase agreement with Metrolinx. Within this agreement, it will work to negotiate “scope, cost, and schedule of various elements of the project,” which is slated to last 18 to 24 months. After, a construction implementation phase will follow.

The Hamilton LRT project seeks to connect Eastgate to McMaster through Hamilton’s downtown with 14 kilometers of light rail.
