Hurontario light rail transit project’s Cooksville section sees huge delivery of rail

You can’t create a light rail transit project without a whole lot of rail. Here’s what the delivery of 9,000 metres of rail line is adding up to for the Hurontario LRT project.

The team behind the Hurontario (HuLRT) light rail transit project is going to great lengths lately to get the system on track.

In this case, about nine kilometers more, thanks to the delivery of a large amount of rail to the Cooksville ‘laydown’, or staging area.

Each of the 360 pieces measure 25 metres long, and here’s a bit of trivia – the grooved rail offers another layer of protection against derailing. It’s all about the physics of how the light rail vehicles will travel on the line.

The delivery is happening now and will continue to pile up until later in the month.
