BALTIMORE - CSX is working on the Howard Street Tunnel in Baltimore where it has removed and lowered 3,400 feet of flooring.

In February, RT&S reported that CSX was closing the tunnel ahead of the reconstruction project. The tunnel, which is 125 years old, will undergo modernization to increase the vertical clearance. Additionally, 22 obstructions located along the corridor will be addressed. According to the Class I, the project will allow for double-stack intermodal service that will strengthen connections from Port of Baltimore to Midwest markets.

On X (formerly Twitter), CSX shared a video of the work.
