TORONTO – Metrolinx will build a new train bridge on Burloak Drive on its Lakeshore West Line.

On June 8, 2023, RT&S reported Metrolinx announced plans to make upgrades on its Lakeshore West Line. Now, Metrolinx reports it will be collaborating with the City of Burlington and Town of Oakville in order to complete the new bridge. Once completed, it will support more frequent service on the line and allow vehicles to pass underneath without interruption.

The benefits of this work include reducing traffic congestion, increasing safety for GO Train passengers, and widening Burloak Drive to make room for bicycle lanes. The project also includes widening the intersection and roadway at Superior Court and Prince William Drive. Harvester and Wyecroft roads will see minor widening improvements. Currently, crews are working to relocate and protect utilities and protect trees among other minor track work.

To prepare for this work, crews are building a temporary diversion track. Metrolinx states this is necessary to ensure continued train operations during the work. For 10 days, from June 14-24, Burloak Drive will be closed with the exception of 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday to allow for southbound traffic. Information regarding train schedules during the closure can be found here.
