Watch: Helicopter clears a wider right-of-way for trains in Vermont
Written by RT&S StaffWith all the forest fires burning out west these days, it’s nice to see aviation doing something other than dumping fire repellent around railroad tracks.
In Vermont, a helicopter is being used for vegetation management. The helicopter is holding a bar that is equipped with ten spinning saws in an effort to cut back limbs along the railroad right-of-way. The effort will help clear a wider area for passenger and freight trains.
Crews are expected to finish the work in a few days, and the trimming should last years.
