The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is seeking comments regarding the proposed North American Polypropylene Rail Yard Project, located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Canada.

The agency must decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed project and public comments will help it gauge the potential effects on the environment.

North American Polypropylene ULC would like to build and operate the rail yard and include 15 to 25 new rail tracks to allow for the transportation of polypropylene pellets to domestic and international markets. Once constructed, the project site is expected to occupy an area of approximately 11.5 hectares.

Comments will be accepted through June 20 and as a next step, the agency will post a decision on its website stating whether an environmental assessment is required. If one is required, the public will have three more opportunities to comment on the project.
