Amtrak and Partners to Break Ground on Ivy City Rail Yard Modernization Project in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amtrak will join partners from the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA), and Rail Passengers Association (RPA) this Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. to break ground on a new train maintenance facility and other rail yard upgrades that will support the introduction of new, state-of-the-art new Airo trainsets set to enter service on the Northeast Corridor in 2027.

Amtrak Awarded $126M in Federal Grants

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amtrak has been awarded nearly $126 million from the Federal Railroad Administration’s Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) competitive grant program. Many Amtrak partners also received funding that will improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of Amtrak service and support the expansion of intercity passenger rail.

Amtrak Advances Major Rail Yard Upgrades in Seattle

SEATTLE – Amtrak will soon begin major rail yard upgrades in Seattle following the award of a construction contract, advancing the company’s New Era of Rail and supporting passenger rail growth as ridership continues to break records around the country, including here in the Pacific Northwest.

Amtrak Begins Major Harrisburg Line Track Renewal 

PHILADELPHIA – Amtrak is investing $122 million in Pennsylvania to improve tracks on the Harrisburg Line, between Lancaster and Harrisburg. This work will improve ride quality and comfort, increase service reliability and complete necessary work required to keep the tracks in a state of good repair. 

Amtrak Kicks Off Construction at Gray 30th Street Station 

PHILADELPHIA – A new era of passenger rail has officially launched in Philadelphia. Amtrak officials gathered today with federal, state and local representatives along with other community leaders to celebrate the construction kickoff for major renovations at William H. Gray III 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.
