Texas Central, Fluor reach HSR agreement

As reported in the June 2017 issue of Railway Age, Fluor Corp. announced that it has reached agreement with Texas Central Rail Holdings, LLC to advance the preliminary development of the proposed 240-mile high-speed passenger rail line connecting Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.

LA Metro approves $6.1B budget

The board of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has approved the agency’s $6.1 billion budget for fiscal 2018.
The balanced budget increases spending by 1.4 percent over fiscal 2017.

Weekly rail freight notches up

Weekly rail traffic on U.S. railroads continued to strengthen, to 526,970 carloads and intermodal units for the week ending May 13, a gain of 5.7 percent from the same week in 2016.

KCS plans upgrades in five states

Kansas City Southern Railway Co. is investing approximately $24.6 million in 2017 on construction and improvement projects on its Pittsburg, Heavener and Shreveport Subdivisions.

MBTA plan will speed system upgrades
