BNSF train derails in Oklahoma.
BNSF

At approximately 8:35 p.m. CT on Monday, Aug. 10, a BNSF train travelling east from Amarillo, destined for Northwest Ohio derailed 16 cars near Gage, Okla. There are no injuries to the crew and none of the derailed cars contained hazmat. We have restored main track one to service, and our crews are on site working to restore the main track 2, estimated to complete this evening. The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation.

Ed. Note: Several news outlets have reported that the BNSF derailment was caused by high winds. However, you’ll note in the statement above that the cause of the derailment is currently under investigation. RT&S followed up with BNSF to ask specifically if the derailment was caused by the wind, and they emphasized that the cause is under investigation. So, BNSF is not ready to confirm or deny that high-speed winds were involved. DCL
