FORTH WORTH, TEXAS – BNSF gave an update on Facebook about the Trinity River bridge replacement in Fort Worth, Texas.

BNSF gave an update on Facebook about the Trinity River bridge replacement in Fort Worth, Texas.  Over this past summer, “the first of two newly constructed bridges near downtown opened for service.”

The new bridge was constructed with almost 2,000 tons of concrete as well as steel spans, and it weighs more than 5,500 tons. At over 1,300 feet long, the bridge is “another step in [BNSF’s] important doubletrack work in North Texas.”

Kate Kalinosky, the project engineer said: “The bridge construction is part of our multi-year effort to add double-track segments from Forth Worth to Temple, Texas. . . The project will increase train capacity and velocity along this route.”

As of reporting, the second adjacent bridge has been demolished with new spans in place. According to the report, the bridge should be in service later this fall, with room for additional new double track on this segment.
