Norfolk Southern train derails at Bound Brook, N.J.

Norfolk Southern reports that one of its trains derailed this morning in Bound Brook, N.J. Here is the service alert issued by the railroad:

“At approximately 6 a.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 6, Norfolk Southern experienced a mainline derailment in Bound Brook, New Jersey, approximately 30 miles west of Newark, New Jersey.

Currently the route to and from north New Jersey, including Croxton and the Ports of New York, is out of service. Norfolk Southern is in the process of assessing the situation and will provide updates as conditions change.

Customers with traffic moving through this area should anticipate a delay of 24 to 48 hours.”
