Politico is reporting that there will be a hearing on railroad grade crossing safety in the House today, and representatives from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Norfolk Southern, Operation Lifesaver, and some from state and local governments will testify.

The FRA has also released two reports around pedestrian trespasser deaths. The first document, Fatal Trespasser Strikes in the United States: 2012-2017 looks at various details around grade crossing deaths over a five-year period. The second document, Trespasser Intent Determination and Evaluation (TIDE) Criteria, provides details that medical examiners consider when trying to determine if the trespasser death was accidental or a suicide.
