Michael Baker International, an engineering and design consultant, has hired two well-known veterans of the California high-speed rail scene to help build its business in the West.

Thomas Post, P.E., will serve as the Area Executive for the company’s northern California offices. Post was named director of Engineering for the California High Speed Rail Authority two years ago, where he managed a team of 65 bridge and civil design engineers, planning staff and CADD technicians. Prior to that, he spent five years as the Northern California Principal for Jacobs Engineering Group, where he was responsible for a $1.5 billion portfolio of projects. He also has served as Northern California Manager for HNTB; Office Manager and Lead Project Manager for T.Y. Lin International’s Sacramento office; and as Principal Bridge Engineer for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for 18 years.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tracy, P.E., has joined Michael Baker as office manager for the company’s Rancho Cordova, Calif., office. Tracy has 35 years of experience leading large-scale infrastructure engineering and design projects, according to a press release from Michael Baker, including stints at Capital SouthEast Connector Joint Powers Authority, URS Corp., the California High Speed Rail Authority; and the Washington State Department of Transportation.
