The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) made strides toward accelerating environmental reviews and project delivery timelines for rail projects in Florida and Texas late last week.

Amtrak’s Charles “Wick” Moorman will step down from the co-CEO position effective Dec. 31 and assume the role of senior advisor, starting Jan. 1, 2018.

 

New SJJPA video urges safety near tracks

The San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA), the managing agency for the Amtrak San Joaquins service, has created a new video intended to help boost safety around railroad tracks and crossings.

 

Conrail restores NJT service in less than three days

It took Conrail maintenance-of-way forces less than three days to repair heavy damage to its Lehigh Line, a busy main line used by New Jersey Transit Raritan Valley Line (RVL) passenger trains and CSX and Norfolk Southern freights, following the derailment of a 141-car CSX mixed freight late on the afternoon of Dec. 8.
