Rice to serve as mobility strategist for Gannett Fleming

Ryan Rice is the new advanced mobility senior strategist for global infrastructure and engineering firm Gannett Fleming’s Transportation Business Line in the West Region.
“Ryan is nationally recognized as a lead strategist on vehicle automation and technology among departments of transportation (DOTs) and other agencies, and we are excited to have him join our team,” said Eric Rensel, Gannett Fleming‘s vice president and senior transportation operations manager.
Rensel said Rice will draw upon his executive leadership experience with the Colorado DOT as he guides the operations and technology programs at Gannett Fleming.
Rice has led many notable projects, including the Colorado Traffic Incident Management Training Center, which improves first responder and traveler safety, officials said.
He also led the Colorado DOT Connected Vehicle Program, including earning a U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) BUILD grant to construct 500 miles of connected vehicle roadways.
As the co-chair of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Task Force on Highway Automation, Rice also developed the National Strategy for Highway Automation, a strategic roadmap for the national deployment of automated vehicles by 2030.
Rice earned a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in media arts from the University of New Mexico.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Marines and commanded troops and fleets of armored vehicles in combat operations.
