HNTB names Doug Allen president of Southeast Division

Doug Allen will now lead HNTB's Southeast Division, based in Atlanta.

HNTB’s Doug Allen, AICP, has been named president of the firm’s Southeast Division. In this vital role, he oversees complex infrastructure programs, business operations and more than 750 HNTB professionals from Tennessee to Florida. He is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.

“The Southeast Division has been a tremendous contributor to HNTB’s overall success, and the division has significant opportunities ahead in our core markets of DOT, toll, transit and aviation,” said Mike Sweeney, PE, HNTB East Region president. “With a strong team of office leaders, division leadership and talent throughout the division, I’m excited for what we can accomplish in the Southeast Division under Doug’s leadership.”

During his 17 years with HNTB, Allen has served in a number of leadership roles, including most recently as East Region sales officer where he collaborated with offices to drive sales and revenue growth. He has served in technical advisory or project management roles on many key projects and has a broad range of project-specific experience in such areas as managed lanes and toll general consulting services, and long-range transportation and policy planning.

As Southeast Division president, Allen is responsible for leading operations and strategic planning in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee and leading employees in five offices and numerous field offices. He actively represents HNTB in civic- and industry-related associations, helps recruit top talent to the firm, and fosters relationships with clients and thought leaders.

Allen joined HNTB in 2004. He has held many key positions including office leader, division sales officer for the Southeast and Northeast Divisions, as well as roles in the firm’s National Sales Office and Enterprise Operations.

Allen earned master’s degrees in both civil engineering and city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in public policy analysis from the University of North Carolina. He is a member of the Transportation Research Board, American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
