ATLANTA – MARTA will start work on March 13th to replace its north pedestrian bridge. Once the new bridge reopens in October, work will start on the south bridge.

Starting March 13thMetropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will begin improvements to the East Lake Station. As part of its Service, Experience, and Expansion (SEE), it will deconstruct and replace the north pedestrian bridge located at the rail station. By doing so, it will improve ADA accessibility and include a new elevator, flooring, lighting, and paint.

MARTA has advised its customers to use the south pedestrian bridge and south parking lot to reach both train and bus service at East Lake Station during the closure. In addition, there are occasional road closures on West Howard Avenue when the old bridge is scheduled to be removed. During that time, MARTA will operate a Mobility shuttle to pick up riders on the north side of the station and drop them off at the entrance of the south side of the station. When the bridge reopens in October, MARTA reports similar work is planned for the south bridge.
