BALTIMORE - The MDOT MTA released its Purple Line newsletter for November 2025. It includes construction updates, a business spotlight, and a message from Purple Line Senior Project Director Ray Biggs, II.

In the newsletter (below), Senior Project Director Ray Biggs II marks the major milestones completed on the Purple Line project, which is now more than 84% complete. On November 19, all light rail vehicles (LRVs) have been delivered to the Glenridge Operations and Maintenance Facility. Biggs says the project continues its testing with the expansion of a new section of alignment with testing from Beacon Heights-East Pines Station to the College Park-UMD.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

In Montgomery County, girders are now installed across one span of the Spring Street Bridge with crews continuing work on the bridge structure. Additionally, in Silver Spring, the first girder was lifted into place for the spring Street Bridge over WMATA and CSX tracks. In Chevy Chase, crews work to install track across the Rock Creek Bridge. Crews have also worked on a mezzanine to connect the Purple Line to WMATA’s Red Line below Downtown Bethesda.

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY

All track in Prince George’s County has been installed. At the Campus Drive and Presidential Drive intersection, crews have installed overhead catenary poles and wires and embedded track. OCS poles and wires were also installed at Riverdale Park-Kenilworth Station where testing began earlier this month. Near Adelphi Park, crews installed landscaping alongside the tracks.
