Metra will begin significant hiring effort in January.

Metra is planning a major hiring effort in early January to make sure it has enough personnel for schedule adjustments in the first quarter of 2022.

The jobs to be posted in early January include locomotive engineers, conductors, coach cleaners, trackman, maintenance positions, and other positions in operations and administration. The openings will be posted on Metra’s careers portal, which can be reached here. Because some of those positions are highly desirable, there may be a limit on the number of applicants allowed. All new hires are required to show proof of vaccination.

The hiring push will fill a variety of positions that had been left open during the pandemic lows. There may also be openings created by employees opting to retire rather than comply with Metra’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Metra is planning to adjust its current schedules in the first quarter of 2022, as it prepares for more employers to call workers back to downtown offices.
