TORONTO, Can. – Metrolinx plans for their Lakeshore West Line include starting plans for construction of a new train overpass this upcoming weekend.

Metrolinx plans to upgrade the pedestrian bridge on Drury Lane, construct a train overpass on Burloak Drive, and getting the tracks ready for electrification. Service will be impacted on routes 12, 15, 18, and 21 with riders left with the option of buses along the Oakville and West Harbour GO routes. There will also be a Niagara Falls train operating between the Niagara Falls and Aldershot Go stations.

In the future, Metrolinx will work to construct a grade separation at Buroak Drive to allow trains to move above vehicle traffic in an effort to reduce traffic delays. It will also allow road lane expansion to six lanes with additional roadway improvements to Superior Court, Prince William Drive, Harvester Road, and Wyecroft Road. There will also be improvements made to the Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge to allow pedestrians better access.

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion plan arranges use of future electric trains that will run every 15 minutes, allowing for more frequent trips for passengers with fewer emissions.
