DENVER – RTD continues its Downtown Rail Replacement project, hitting the halfway point.
RT&S has been reporting on the ongoing rail reconstruction in downtown Denver. RTD has reported its reconstruction of the light rail tracks at Stout and California on 15th Street was completed in less than three weeks. Currently, two of the five intersections are left to be reconstructed.
On Monday, August 12th, the third and final segment of the downtown rail work began at the 17th St intersections at Stout and California. This work is also expected to take around three weeks.
RTD project manager for the Downtown Rail Construction Project, Aprajit Desai said, “Rail reconstruction in the downtown area has been running smoothly, and we look forward to completing the first of four phases of the project in the coming weeks. The improvements made at these intersections are intended to improve safety and prolong the life of the rail for another 30 years.”
In 2025, future project phases will begin that focus on the Downtown Loop, Colfax Avenue, and the Welton Street corridor. Information regarding street impacts for local residents can be found here.
