LANGLEY, British Columbia - Along The Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension, crews have started construction on eight stations.
According to the release, the project extends the Expo Line to Langley City Centre and connects communities to Metro Vancouver. Along with eight stations providing connectivity, the areas surrounding said stations will see options for housing, employment, and healthcare. In addition to the stations, there will be 14 kilometers of multi-use pathways.
Six stations already have completed station foundation work. Work is getting underway at the remaining two stations, 152 Street Station and Willowbrook Station. At Fleetwood and Green Timbers Stations, station structures are beginning to take shape as crews conduct above ground station construction. Once foundation work is completed, crews will work on “vertical construction” and build the stations. Guideway foundation construction is around 90% complete. 75% of guideway columns are built. Almost a third of guideway segments have been installed. According to the release, the Precast Concrete Facility in South Surrey has produced half of the necessary segments for the elevated guideway. More than 75% of the underground duct bank is complete, around 12 kilometers. This will house the necessary electrical lines.

TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said, “Surrey Langley SkyTrain has been years in the making, and this milestone shows the planning, partnership, and sustained investment it takes to deliver a project of this scale. The decisions we make today turn long-term plans into real transit improvements, giving growing communities better ways to move for generations to come.”
