ARDMORE, Pa. - SEPTA gathered April 10 to celebrate the opening of the new Ardmore Station on the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line.
According to SEPTA, service began on March 23 after the station was rebuilt as part of SEPTA’s Station Accessibility Program. Within this program, the station was brought up to ADA standards with accessible platforms, ramps, and elevators. The station also has a new inbound station building, lighting, signage, landscaping, stormwater management, outbound shelters, and passenger amenities. The total cost of the project was $60.6 million. This included design, support, and construction. Construction began in 2019 and faced Covid-related delays. Before that, the last time the station was rebuilt was in 1957 when it replaced the original 1870s building. Below is a SEPTA video showing the ribbon cutting and footage of the new station.
