NEWINGTON, Conn. - The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) released the 2027-2030 draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
The draft STIP includes all planned transit projects over the next four years that uses Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) funding. The STIP has more than 380 projects with $4.5 billion in federal funds, $932 million in state funds, and an estimated $45 million in local funds. $1.1 billion is earmarked for transit, including rail. Some of the rail related projects that will receive funding through the STIP are the New Haven Line Track Program, New Haven Union Station Platform Replacement and the New Haven State Street Station Improvements.
Now that the draft STIP has been released, CTDOT welcomes public comment via two hybrid public information meetings in June 2026. Those interested can register at CTDOT’s website.

“The STIP maps out planned transportation investment across every corner of Connecticut. From highways and bridges to buses and rail lines, these projects are critical to safety, mobility, and economic development,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto. “We want to make sure the STIP reflects the needs of the people we serve and the only way to do that is to hear from the public directly. I encourage residents to review the draft plan and share their thoughts.”
