ATLANTA –– While RT&S does not cover the weather, given the tough hurricane season we've had so far this year, we thought it appropriate to post a report from the National Weather Service.

In my recent “Editor’s Notebook” column in the November issue, and also posted on this website on October 30, I mentioned that there were reports of conditions in the Caribbean favorable to the development of tropical storms. Well, it appears that has happened, and Tropical Storm Rafael is now with us.

As of 3:12 p.m. today, the National Weather Service reports on its website that “residents along the Gulf Coast should pay attention to Tropical Storm Rafael. Rafael is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and enter the southern Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday. Continue to stay weather aware and keep updated with the official information from the National Hurricane Hurricane at nhc.noaa.gov.”

RT&S will continue to monitor the progress of this storm and provide any reports with significant updates.
