POLB: Cargo Volumes ‘Steady’ Through October

LONG BEACH, Calif. –– In light of the uncertainties brought about by tariffs, the Port of Long Beach says “shifting trade policies have brought uncertainty to consumers and the supply chain, but cargo continues to move smoothly.”

Port of Long Beach: Second-Busiest August on Record

LONG BEACH, Calif. –– Peak shipping season boosted the Port of Long Beach, Calif., to its second-busiest August on record and the sixth-busiest month in its 114-year history “as retailers continued to see the arrival of goods purchased during a recent pause in tariffs,” the Port reported on Sept. 15.

USDOT Awards $4.9B for Mega, INFRA Projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is distributing $4.9 billion to 37 nationwide projects through the FY 2023-24 Mega (National Infrastructure Project Assistance) and INFRA (Infrastructure for Rebuilding America) grant programs. Twelve rail-related projects will receive a total of $1.6 billion; the Pier B project at the Port of Long Beach and the Louisiana International Terminal project at the Port of New Orleans are among the winners.

FRA deputy chief visits Los Angeles and Long Beach ports

Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Deputy Administrator Amit Bose visited the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach on December 8, 2021 to discuss recent progress in tackling supply chain issues through collaborative efforts among the Ports, FRA, and rail carriers.
