Yesterday, Metra began replacing and resurfacing its crossing at 95th Street and Vincennes Avenue on the agency’s Rock Island Line. This crossing will be out of service until Friday, June 12, when the work is expected to be complete.

The vehicular traffic at 95th street will also be closed during the entire project. Motorists will be advised to take either Halsted Street or Vincennes Avenue from 95th Street to 103rd Street to cross this Metra line during construction.

Metra says that “Crossing projects generally include the removal and replacement of rails, ties, ballast, rubber panels and asphalt and are part of the regularly scheduled maintenance of Metra’s assets. Crossing renewals provide a smoother ride for motorists and ensure the continued safety of railroad operations.”
