BNSF Rail Bridge Construction Continues

BISMARCK, N.D. – BNSF works on its rail bridge over the Missouri River with the current rail bridge still in use during construction of its replacement.

Several weeks ago, RT&S reported BNSF’s new rail bridge in North Dakota. KFYRTV has reported an update of BNSF’s construction of its new rail bridge over the Missouri River. Located in North Dakota between Bismarck and Mandan, crews have removed trees and other obstacles in the landscape. 

For the next three years and at the cost of $100 million, crews “are working on building an embankment and piers for the substructure this fall.” BNSF is paying for the bridge in full.

To keep service running, the current rail bridge will remain up and in use until the new bridge is finished. Following the completion of the new bridge, the current rail bridge will take up to a year to be removed.
