A UP train was traveling at 60 mph when it ran into a washout and derailed.

Union Pacific notified customers on July 16 that washouts had impacted their operations near Milford, Utah, which is in the southwest corner of the state. Moreover, this portion of the network was handling rerouted trains resulting from wildfires and a corresponding bridge outage in Northern California. The railroad advises that customers with rail shipments in the impacted areas should expect delays.

The train derailed as it ran into the washout at 60 mph, and three crew members were injured, but none critically.

Union Pacific finished its press release with the following:

• Additional details on impact to domestic and international intermodal service can be reviewed here.
• Additional network impacts are available in our Rail Operations Update.
