Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) has selected Ericka Thomas as the national rail safety education organization’s new manager of Education, Training and Instructional Design.

In her new position, Thomas is expected to develop safety education materials for the public, offer oversight for the organization’s online OLI eLearning programs and provide instructor-led training for Operation Lifesaver Authorized Volunteers (OLAVs) and OLI Coaches.

Rachel Maleh, OLI’s executive director, said Thomas has an astute knowledge of the system involved in developing eLearning tools and other educational materials.

“Ericka brings key insights as to how engaging eLearning products can lead to measurable results for safety education,” Maleh said. “Her background will help enhance the effectiveness of our materials and training programs. We’re excited to welcome her to the team.”

Thomas also brings experience working with government agencies at both the federal and local levels.

In her career, she has held senior learning and development roles with eLT Technology Consulting, Pitney Bowes Management Services, GeoLearning, AT&T, Aerotek and American Cybersystems.

Thomas is an alumna of the University of Illinois, where she earned a master’s degree in Vocational and Technical Education-Human Resource Education.
