HART to Take On Rail Repairs in Coming Weeks

Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina told the board of directors on Jan. 20 that the delay in trial runs of the Hitachi Rail trains will end only when a “communications software issue” is resolved.

MARTA to Suspend Service for Track Replacement Work 

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will be suspending rail service south of the Atlanta-area agency’s Medical Center Station in order to carry out track replacement work from Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. through the end of service Feb. 22.

Wabtec Corporation on Nov. 17 reported the addition of Brazil-based Super Metal to its maintenance-of-way (m/w) business. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

NTSB To Short Lines – Keep A Close Eye on Weather

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently issued a safety recommendation to the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association about the importance of maintaining dynamic weather alert criteria in railroad operations.
